In the next 3-4 years, the leadership transition phase will probably begin into the highly dextrous side of Mumbai Indians. Rohit Sharma, the current skipper of MI, ageing at 34, has been leading the team exceptionally for nine long years, in which he took the team to the final five times and won the trophy in all appearances. He made Mumbai Indians the most successful IPL team in the business in the last decade.
But from the perspective of the future, Rohit Sharma has not many years left in his legacy at Mumbai Indians. He carved the careers of many young players in such a long reign of captaincy, like Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Surya Kumar Yadav & Ishan Kishan. Now Hardik Pandya has shifted his journey from MI to Gujarat Titans.
But, lingering the three superstar players on the list could become the future face of Mumbai Indians after the end of Rohit Sharma’s miraculous legacy.
1) Surya Kumar Yadav (SKY)
The player who KKR dropped in 2017 after going through a bad form in a complete season and suddenly being picked up by Mumbai Indians changed his fate comprehensively. In Kolkata, he was given the role of finisher along with Shakib-Al-Hasan, although he couldn’t capitalize on that opportunity as it doesn’t suit his batting style. But, MI’s then-head coach “Mahela Jayawardene” found an exciting talent in him, and he advised Rohit Sharma to promote him in the top-order. His career graph took an upswing from there, and it’s still surging up. He played 115 matches in IPL with a decent run score of 2341. He could be the prime candidate to replace Rohit Sharma in Future, as his experience with the performance make him stand first in the row.
2) Jasprit Bumrah
