Mr. 360’s IPL Journey: AB de Villiers Performances Season by Season

AB de Villiers turned up for two franchises in his IPL career that stretched 14 seasons. While his association with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is well known, he also played three seasons for Delhi Daredevils.

About 87 percent of his career runs came in RCB colours. In fact, ABD’s 4491 runs in 144 innings are the second-most for RCB in the IPL. His 39 fifty-plus scores – two hundreds and 37 half-centuries – are also the second-most.

Overall in the league’s run tally, ABD is among the nine batters with 5000-plus runs. He was the fifth to reach the landmark, as he took 161 innings, the fourth-fastest to 5000 IPL runs.

Except for three seasons, ABD crossed the 300-run mark in each of the remaining 11 seasons. This shows how consistent he was with the bat.

And de Villiers was more consistent in 2016. The right-hand batter plundered 687 runs across 16 innings to take RCB into the final. It wouldn’t be inappropriate to say it was his best season with the bat.
