Key Insights
David Warner has hit the most boundary fours in an IPL season. He fetched 88 boundaries in 17 innings for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2016.
The same season saw Virat Kohli collect 973 runs, a record tally in an edition, which included 83 boundaries.
Sachin Tendulkar, who is second on the list, was the first to hit 80-plus fours in a season. The Master Blaster struck 86 fours in 15 matches back in 2010. Interestingly, he smashed only three sixes back then.
Gautam Gambhir, though, was the first batter to score more than 50 fours in an edition. In the inaugural season, he hit 68 fours for Delhi Daredevils.
Since then, there have been close to 100 instances of batters scoring 50 or more fours in a single IPL season.
IPL 2013 and IPL 2018 recorded nine batters each cross the barrier of 50 fours. This is the highest number of batters to smash 50-plus boundaries in an IPL season.
